Just a short walk or bike ride – entirely without uphill – takes you to the centre of Bad Urach, where a wide range of cultural and shopping options awaits. Whether you’re after fresh bread from the bakery, Swabian sausages from the butcher, groceries from the supermarket or pharmacy, coffee, cake and ice cream, a quick snack or a relaxed dinner – everything you could wish for is just a few steps away. A little over half an hour on foot brings you to the spa complex and the famous waterfall, which also serves as the starting point for the extensive network of hiking and cycling trails across the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve, right through the historic old town. The Ermstalbahn train station, reachable in just a few minutes on a barrier-free path from 7SCHWABEN, provides connections to Stuttgart’s main station and nearby towns. Numerous bus routes are also available for local and regional travel.
Transport Connections
Nestled idyllically along the Albtrauf escarpment, Bad Urach enjoys excellent road connections throughout the region. To the north and west, the federal highways B312 and B313 lead into the expansive Alb foothills, to the bustling Outletcity Metzingen, Reutlingen, the medieval town of Tübingen, and of course to the stylish state capital Stuttgart, including its international airport and the A81 motorway toward Lake Constance. To the south and east, the B28 and B465 provide access to the wild and romantic Swabian Alb plateau, extending all the way to the A8 motorway toward Ulm and Munich.
